The first-ever Arnold Classic Europe takes place this weekend in Madrid, Spain, featuring IFBB Pro League men’s bodybuilding and fitness, a complete line-up of amateur bodybuilding events, several other major sports and a health & fitness expo.
”We have had many requests over the years to take the Arnold Classic to many cities around the world,” says Lorimer, who is teaming up with former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and IFBB President Rafael Santonja in turning the requests into reality. ”We are excited to begin the globalization of our event with the first Arnold Classic Europe. Rafael has been one of our biggest supporters and we look forward to working together for many years.”
In checking out the men’s bodybuilding field, five fella’s who finished in the top 10 at the recent Mr. Olympia in Las Vegas will don their posing suits in Spain. Leading the way is Victor Martinez, who finished fourth at the Olympia and did likewise at the initial Sheru Classic in India the following week. Dexter Jackson (6th), Toney Freeman (7th), Ronny Rockel (9th) and Hidetada Yamagishi (10th) are also competing, along with several top European stars. James ”Flex” Lewis, coming off a strong second place finish in the Olympia 202 and Under Challenge, will be going biceps for biceps with the big boys in Madrid..
In fitness, Tanji Johnson, Miriam Capes and Tina Durkin are among the top contenders.
